| How reflexology helps common conditions |
 |
|
Published research
Although modern reflexology methods have existed for nearly 100 years, research studies did not begin to emerge until around 1977. Research is expensive and requires in-depth expertise to design, conduct and accurately interpret these studies so that they are accepted and respected by other professionals, academics and the scientific community. Without the expertise and funding from drug companies enjoyed by many clinical trials, research studies into complementary therapies such as reflexology have been an uphill struggle for many years.
However, some good research into reflexology has been conducted over the years. The Pacific Reflexology Training Institute in Canada refers to a number of abstracted research studies on a variety of specific conditions. These are presented here to enable you to make a more informed decision as to whether reflexology is a treatment you may wish to try.
Most of the research has been carried out in Australia, China, Denmark, Spain and the United Kingdom.
